Franklin Fire and Rescue is located in Franklin, NC. The Department was formed in 1911 and has 32 highly trained, dedicated volunteer members of which three are full time paid members. Franklin responds to about 1000 calls a year. The department has eight trucks in house and has over 39 square miles of fire district.
Mission Statement
 
The Franklin Fire and Rescues role is to provide fire protection and rescue ability to the residents and visitors in the Franklin area. To provide additional assistance to all Macon County fire districts and NC and US Forest Services. The success of the Franklin Fire and Rescue is departent on the availability of highly trained firefighters and equiptment. 
Fire Department History
 
Here is a photo of the fire department members in front of Old First Baptist Church. The 37 is in the photo.

The Fire Department operated out of this small building on the corner of Church Street and Iotla Street for 5 years, and is shown below in photogragh. It is now owned by the First Baptist Church and is used for classes.

In 1955 the Fire Department moved to a new location on West Main Street, which is shown below. The Fire Department operated out of this location until 1987. They then moved to the new and current location off of Maple Street. After the Fire Department moved the Police Department moved in to the old fire house. The building is now used for all of the towns offices and board meetings.
